What is the Airborne Access network?

Airborne Access is a wireless ISP (wISP) that provides wireless internet connectivity at its hotspots. The service operates using technology known as 802.11b or WiFi.

Are there any limitations to this type of service?

Airborne Access delivers the full internet experience within the hotspot. Our customers can surf the web, send or receive email, chat, download files, and everything else that you can do on the internet.

What devices do I need to avail of this service?

Laptops, PDA’s, and other portable devices with standard 802.11b wireless internet cards can be used to access the service. Most of the newer laptop and PDAs come with built-in wireless interfaces out-of-the-box.

How much are the rates for the service?

Airborne Access currently has a post-paid service plan called HORIZON with three basic plans. All HORIZON plans equip you with WiFi devices to jumpstart your wireless internet experience.

HORIZON 1 provides the user with unlimited access for only P1,000* with a P1,500* signing fee. The plans comes with a PCMCIA WLAN card absolutely FREE.

HORIZON 6 is our semi-annual plan that delivers 6 months of wireless internet for the price of 5. The plan also includes a FREE PCMCIA WLAN card. Fees are P5,000 paid at the start of the 6 month period.

HORIZON 12 is our annual plan that includes a FREE PCMCIA WLAN card and a Wireless Boradband Router for your home or office. Fees are P12,000* paid at the start of the 12 month period.

All rates are exclusive of Value Added Tax. (VAT)

Where do I sign up for the service?

How do I set up my computer?

Just make sure that your computer and its wireless card is working properly. After that, all you need to access the service is a standard web browser such as Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer. Please refer to your hardware documentation for instructions on configuring your specific device.

Where can I get a wireless network card?

Airborne Access HORIZON plans already include a FREE Wireless LAN card with every subscription.

If your computer does not support PCMCIA cards, or If you choose instead to use our WINGSPAN pre-paid cards, various 802.11b wireless card brands are available at computer stores around Metro Manila. You can also purchase directly from distributors such as International Micro Village or Microwarehouse.

Before purchasing a card for your computer, be sure to confirm that it is compatible with your model. You can easily do this by reviewing the technical specification of your computer or calling the manufacturer’s customer service center. Airborne Access Corporation does not warrant or guarantee the installation or performance of a wireless card or its manufacturer.

How do I set up my Wi-Fi device to work with the Airborne Access network?

The most important thing to remember if you wish to use the Airborne Access netowrk, is the SSID. Be sure to set yours to airborneaccess.net.

Newer operating systems such as Microsoft Windows XP, Apple OSX, or Microsoft WIndows Mobile 2003 have a built-in feature that will detect the network’s SSID. When given the option to do so, just choose airborneaccess.net.

What are hotspots and how do I know when I’m within range of it?

Hotspots are areas in which the user can access the WiFi service. Most Wi-Fi cards and newer operating systems come with a software utility that indicates signal strength. You can use this utility to confirm if a WiFi service is in range of your location.

I am at an Airborne Access location. How do I start?

Assuming your network card is correctly configured, open your web browser before doing anything else. Our software automatically catches your session and presents you with our login page. From here, you can login with your username and password. Click here for help on log in procedures.

Can other Wi-Fi service providers use Airborne Access for roaming purposes?

Yes, Airborne Access has established roaming relationships with various ISPs and wISPs that allow their customers to use our network using their own usernames and passwords. For a list of affiliate service providers adn help with roaming please click here.

Soon Airborne Access subscribers can also use partner ISPs and wISPs in the country they visit. As soon as this is available, we will announce it on this website.

Are there any circumstances when you can get disconnected?

Yes. Movement of the unit will affect the signal being received by the portable device but rarely affects the service significantly.

Who is responsible for network maintenance?

Airborne Access exercises best efforts to ensure that network coverage and maintenance remains at an optimal level at all times.

What if I forget my password?

Customer service representatives are readily available to assist in most troubleshooting situations by calling 633-WIFI or emailing support@airborneaccess.net.

What if I need to cancel my subscription?

If for any reason that you need to cancel your subscription, call the customer service department at 633-WIFI or emailing support@airborneaccess.net.
